Sarah Catherine Design was founded in 2016, but the passion behind it sparked at a young age for owner and founder Sarah Moore.
Sarah Catherine Design first stretched its wings in Nashville, but was later rooted in Birmingham, Alabama, as Sarah wished to establish herself near family. Since that time, the SCD Team has added new members and expanded its reach nationwide and, thus, the Sarah Catherine Design village has grown.
Describe your style.
We aim for a fesh take on classic southern interiors.
What is your favorite item(s) to collect?
I love collecting unique antique pieces - big and small. Whether those are rugs, furniture or small decor items. I think every space benefits from having something unique and timeless in it
An item(s) you buy on repeat when designing a space.
Besides the obvious sofas and swivel chairs.... I love Cowtan & touts linen prints. They do color and pattern so well it seems like one of their designs always makes it into my spaces.
Your go-to paint color?
I love Farrow & Ball slipper satin as a war, creamy white paint. Benjamin Moore Ashwood is a great go-to when it comes to an off-white warm neutral. As for accent colors... Farrow & Ball Inchra Blue is a GREAT moody blue green. I love Odessa Pink for nurseries and powder baths.
An artist or style of art you can't live without?
I commission a lot of art from Laurel Dawn Latshaw. She is a local Birmingham artist (and a dear friend) but her botanicals and Earth sky Heaven pieces are so beautiful and easy to work into a variety of spaces.
Tell us three things you personally can't live without.
My dog Lilly! She is my ride or die sidekick and comes to the studio with me everyday. Spotify.... because creativity loves a good soundtrack. Travel, whether is is ski trips or Europe trips i recharge my batteries best when I am on an adventure.
Tell us your favorite destination and why?
Paris, always. I know the city very well now and I just cant get enough of the architecture, art and culture there. Anytime I travel to Paris I come back feeling inspired and usually with some antiques in tow.
