Anne is known for her love of color, detail, and personality. Her focus on color and detail in her interiors has developed into a signature style. One that evolves and is personalized for every client based on their home and personal style.
How did you start your company and what's your favorite part of what you do?
A well known and fabulous designer in DC (Erica Burns) took a chance on me. I had a love and eye for design but no professional experience. She taught me everything I know about operating a boutique design firm. Fast forward almost 5 years I had my first baby, left DC for Richmond and started my own firm coming up on 3 years. My favorite part of what I do is sourcing new textiles and products for my clients… but presentations days are usually my fav! And then of course seeing my design come to life during installs.
When purchasing for your home, where should one invest and where should one save?
Invest in window treatments, save on bedding!
When designing a room, where's the best place to start?
Pick a color story and let the design organically build from there.
What's your advice when purchasing an investment rug?
You have to be obsessed with it...investment rugs can be expensive but if you love it enough you will have it forever. A room can change over time with new pillows, art and upholstery… but if the rug is special enough it can last a lifetime through all of the evolutions a room might make.
Where do you find your inspiration?
Everywhere! A fun tile in a restaurant to a piece of clothing or bag I’m coveting in an unexpected color way. Most importantly I draw inspiration from my clients and their personal style.
What advice would you give someone looking to define their design style?
Follow your gut, not trends. Look to your wardrobe inspiration.
If you could take only one thing from your house, what would it be?
Heirlooms from my grandmother....Probably her little footstool.
The best way to spend a weekend.
At home with my family and a "friend hangout" sprinkled in!
